Magic is alive and well here in Laramie and it lives in the creative hearts and free spirits of these local artists and imagineers…
I loved photographing this event for Wyoming Art Party. Like all they do, this was colorful, joyous, and fun! The theme for the float was “Mythical Wyoming Wildlife” and the Wyoming Art Party held workshops for the public in the weeks before the Laramie Jubilee Days Parade, encouraging participants to make costumes of their favorite Wyoming creatures, wether real or invented. Dogs, horses, fish, bears, gryphon, jackalopes, unicorns, ravens, and even a golden buffalo were in attendance. Check out these costumes in the images below! I’m impressed!
There were many hands that went into making this a great and fun experience for all, and June said it best:
“The Wyoming Art Party would like to thank all the amazing community members who came out in costume on Saturday and helped to make the Jubilee Days Parade just a little bit more colorful!!!! We would like to thank artist Matt Sigel for working on gryphon and for pulling the trailer, and Hecht Creek Ranch and Black Market Farms for trailer loan and letting us raid their metal pile and stage the creation of the gryphon at their ranch.
We’d also like to thank the following groups and individuals :
Alex Walter, Stacey Stibora, and Jordyn Patrias for all their volunteer work.
The Laramie Plains Civic Center for donating the use of the 7th Street Studio Ceramic workshop space.
NU2U, Lisa McElwee, Brigdet Hardy, Sharon Huizinga and Dana Stickley & Fox Creek Manufacturing for their donations.
Trey Sherwood and LMSA for all their support.
