Elopement: an act or instance of running off secretly, as to be married.

Sounds pretty romantic, right? If you are unsure about planning an elaborate wedding, an elopement is a trendy alternative that may be exactly what you have been dreaming of! Here are a few benefits of running away with your fiancé to elope.

Intimate

Just you and your spouse surrounded by nature high in the mountains, at the beach on a private island, in your own backyard, or a courthouse, the location is 100% your choice. No crowd to please or cater to with the sole focus of the day being you and your partner’s love and happiness. You can always celebrate later with your friends and family but let that one intimate moment be without an audience.

Affordable

If the cost of a wedding is intimidating, an elopement is a great alternative! The budget can be as little or as much as you would like. Remember, no audience to please and no expectations so you literally can do whatever you want!  You want a elegant pink dress? Get one! If you want to wear matching flannel shirts and follow your vows with shots of whiskey, hell yeah! Short dress and flip flops your kind of thing? Go for it! My point is, you can create the perfect moment that caters to your style and finances. Without hundreds of guests to feed and a venue to pay for, you can put that savings towards airfare, attire, or a kick-ass photographer ;). An added bonus is many photographers charge less to document elopements than they do a traditional wedding day so you are still able to cherish your memories years down the road.

It’s all you.

An elopement has no rules. It can be customized to match exactly what you want for your wedding day. Keep it simple with just you and your partner or bring along a few of your closest friends & family to share your special day with. Stay near your home or travel across the world. Just remember, your day is about the celebration of you and your love becoming one so keep in mind your dreams and the rest will fall into place.

Ya’ll!

I couldn’t resist the opportunity to shoot up at Albion Basin during my trip to Utah last month while the wildflowers were in full bloom.  Kelsey & Kent (engaged to be wed this fall!) met me up there for a ‘Styled Elopement’ type shoot… and BOY-OH-BOY was it incredible!!  Mille Fleur Designs provided the beautiful bouquet, which she styled to match the wildflowers up at albion.  It was complete perfection!

I hope these mountain scenes and photos of L-O-V-E get your imagination running wild for your very own mountain romance. <3
