Kelsey was born to be an adventurer. She grew up in the big horn mountains. Her parents worked at a summer camp and she spent her days on the wooded trails and hilltops under big Wyoming skies. Later, her family would move to Missouri, but after graduating her heart pulled her back to those lofty mountain peaks. It was there, at camp Bethel, the place she had loved as a child, that she met him.
The day after their wedding we met with Jemimah & Simon (or as I’ve dubbed their new celebrity name, Jemimon,) at The Rustic Inn in Jackson, Wyoming and headed North. We passed the elk refuge and rounded a corner to be greeted by the breathtaking, snow laden Tetons.
I really cant think of any landscape more lovely than these Grand Tetons in Wyoming. Their peaks seem impossibly high, and when covered with snow are oh-so-dreamy. How lucky we were to get to see them! The clouds, and snow, moved in moments after we ended our session so it seems we timed it perfectly!
For their engagement session Leslie and Jarod wanted snow and mountains. We got all we could handle of both -and more- it was SO beautiful! For their session we met at the Green Rock Trailhead, just below where they close the road for the season in the Snowy Mountain Range in Medicine Bow National Forest. The weather was beautiful and clear, and in typical Snowies fashion the air was crisp and the wind cheery. So much so that we retreated down the mountain do Barber Lake Rd to watch the sunset. We were not disappointed.
Its almost like it was meant to be. He sat across the bar from her and watched her work and later she would watch him as he moved in across the street from her house.
By chance a work crush became a neighbor. A neighbor turned into a date, a date a best friend, and a best friend a fiance.
I could tell you about how these two came from different corners of the country to call Laramie home. How they found each other and he sang his way into her heart while she danced her way into his. I could tell you that their engagement began atop a mountain with the sun shining, birds singing, and champagne…but I wont.
She looked down at her phone when she heard it buzz. Hmmm. Tinder. A match. They made a date to meet for a drink and she was’t expecting much…. in fact, neither was he. Boy were they wrong.
Today I’m blogging images from the Romero’s mountaintop session and talking a little about life and how it can be surprising and sweet and not always whats expected all at the same time. Be sure to scroll through the images at the bottom, you wont want to miss this knockout-karate-chop-combo of stunning setting and happy family that is the Romero’s.
You know, I’ve been spending a lot of time lately thinking about what I want my life to look like.
Its that time of year again! I get to see all my favorite return clients as they prep for their holiday cards and update their family galleries. I just love getting to catch up with everyone and photograph them in their favorite Laramie locations.
Wide-smile and bright-eyed,
Keely walked into her first day of diving practice. She was a typical beach girl who swam like a dolphin and spent her summers with her sandy toes on Australia’s Gold Coast.
Now, she found herself in Wyoming, over a thousand miles from the nearest sandy beach. A new school, a new team, and a new country, she was focused and determined…. Which would explain why she missed Brendan’s gaze.
It started small. The humble jar on her dresser with a Mickey Mouse sticker and a few nickels and dimes. They would throw their change in, or any spare cash… and over five years as their hearts filled with love for each other, so did the jar… that savings slowly growing so they could take their trip. A trip to DISNEYWORLD.
They had been talking about marriage for a while. Each knew exactly what they wanted… but he told her it wasn’t time yet. It wouldn’t happen on this trip. Little did she know the day he had planned…
