How to Dress for Portraits with A Balancing Peach – Senior Week! 5/6

Hello all!

This is Kelsey from a balancing peach and I’m so happy to be here with Megan chatting a bit about style. Truth be told I always feel much more comfortable behind the camera, but with time and a little bit more knowledge about what looks best for photos, I’ve grown to appreciate portraits.  I think one of the biggest miss conceptions about getting portraits done is that you need an entire new outfit (or wardrobe) to do it right and that couldn’t be less true.  I’m all about lasting style that gets me from season to seasons, photoshoots included and all.

Our Favorite Locations – Senior Week! 4/6

Take them at a place that is meaningful to you.  When you look back on these images, you’ll want to see a part of who you were at the time.  Things will change a lot for you after you graduate and as you get older, SO having a photo in a place that’s helped you become who you are now is a plus!

I had my senior portraits taken in a stuffy studio with an older gentleman photographer who was a little old fashioned to say the least… If I could do it again, I’d find a photographer that could come to me and I’d go to the creek by my childhood home.  It’s where I’d go when I needed to think, I’d put my feet in the water and dream of all the places I’d go once I graduated. Now, that place has been developed, the fields where horses used to play are now filled with pavement and cookie cutter houses.  If I could have a photo of me in that place, like it was then, it’d be a true treasure!

All About Props! Featuring Tyler – Senior Week! 2/6

When you really just need a fishing pole….

When you really need a fishing pole?  Chances are, Tyler will have one on him. He’ll pop the trunk, dig around, and in moments he’s ready to cast. A Utah native, Tyler knows all the nearby spots for hunting, fishing, hiking and exploring in order to take advantage of all the natural beauty Utah offers.

He plays football, speaks french, and kicks butt at some COD, but most of all Tyler’s an intelligent and fun person to be around.  He graduates from Lehi High School this spring and plans to serve a mission for the LDS church in Tahiti.  He leaves this summer and we will miss him!

Tyler brought along some great props and outfits for his session that really highlights his personality and the things he loves to do. Annie wrote up a little guide with lots of fun ideas and info all about props for your session! Read more about that below.

Adela – Torrington High School Senior Portrait

I adored photographing Adela’s high school senior portraits…. This girl is as gorgeous as she is funny!  She will graduate from Torrington High School this spring, class of 2017.  She came to Laramie with her mom and her aunt last weekend and we met at Luna salon for hair and makeup styling with Robin.  Adela has a natural beauty that was only enhanced by Robin’s professional styling. One last stop to pick up a lovely floral crown from Poppy’s in Downtown Laramie and we were on our way!
