I lovedlovedloved getting to hang out with my siblings, their spouses, and the furry kids over Memorial day weekend. There isn’t much better than smoreo’s (smore’s made with oreo’s..drool) and laughing around the campfire.
We met in Steamboat Springs, Colorado and went on the hunt for a campsite. After finding that most of the National Park roads were still closed for the winter season we ended up setting up camp at Steamboat Lake State park. The tent sites are on an island, and provide spectacular views of the sunset and sunrise over this gorgeous lake.
The boys lit a fire and I made dutch-oven buffalo chili. It was the perfect way to keep warm and fend off ‘goose bumples’. As night fell it started to rain so we dove into the tent for some rounds of Bang… SO fun! Later, the rain stopped and the stars showed up. Jake and I attempted some night sky shots of the newlyweds and then everyone headed to bed.
The next two days were full of laughs, waterfalls, hot springs, and great food..(Creekside in Downtown Steamboat is a MUST if you ever find yourself there!)
So blessed with this amazing family. We’ve been through tough times together. Seen each other wounded by life and we’ve built each other back up again.
You might be wondering why I’d blog about this on my business page…
Business is business and home is home. But for me, its not so simple. Family is important. Its everything. Its a big part of what I do. You might not realize just how much your parents care till you see the photo I took of your father’s face when he walked you down the aisle… or your mom helping you into your wedding dress.
The truth is, life is short.
We never know what tomorrow holds. This moment together could be your last. Live, love, laugh, and enjoy to your fullest ability. Moments pass and can be lost forever. If photographs help those meaningful moments last longer, then you’ll always find me behind a camera.
Love and appreciation always,
