“The First Look” is when a couple chooses to see each other in their wedding attire prior to the ceremony.  Some couples choose to do this in the weeks before the wedding, and other couples carve out time in their wedding day timeline for a first look.

I’m a big believer in “The First Look” for a few reasons. Having been a bride, I know that the day goes by so quickly. It was really special for us to have a little time alone before the ceremony to see each other and check in. It’s a very emotional moment seeing each other for the first time on your wedding day and we both wanted to experience it privately.

Think of this as your time to celebrate as just a duo without the eyes of all your guests. Plus, it means that you can get all your “formal” photos done before the ceremony. My husband and I really liked structuring it this way because it felt like the pressure was off after the ‘formals’ were done and we could just enjoy ourselves. This is just my two cents though. This is your big day and I am just a small part of it. I want you to experience it the way you and your groom dreamed it. I’m happy to provide input, but ultimately, it’s up to you to decide how you want your timeline to be.
