“The First Look” | Wyoming Weddings
“The First Look” is when a couple chooses to see each other in their wedding attire prior to the ceremony. Some couples choose to do this in the weeks before the wedding, and other couples carve out time in their wedding day timeline for a first look.
I’m a big believer in “The First Look” for a few reasons. Having been a bride, I know that the day goes by so quickly. It was really special for us to have a little time alone before the ceremony to see each other and check in. It’s a very emotional moment seeing each other for the first time on your wedding day and we both wanted to experience it privately.
Think of this as your time to celebrate as just a duo without the eyes of all your guests. Plus, it means that you can get all your “formal” photos done before the ceremony. My husband and I really liked structuring it this way because it felt like the pressure was off after the ‘formals’ were done and we could just enjoy ourselves. This is just my two cents though. This is your big day and I am just a small part of it. I want you to experience it the way you and your groom dreamed it. I’m happy to provide input, but ultimately, it’s up to you to decide how you want your timeline to be.
What a fabulous overview of what a first look is and loving the gorgeous image of your couple. I can’t recommend first looks enough as they truly allow couples time to get great shots of just the two of them without feeling rushed towards the end of cocktail hour. Beautiful first look shot captured in Wyoming!
We are having a first look for exactly the reasons you mentioned! I’m excited to get the formal portraits done before the ceremony so that we can spend as much time with our guests as possible. This is a great, informative post that I’m sure many brides and grooms will appreciate!
I am also a big fan of first looks! They are so important to give the bride and groom time to enjoy each other during their wedding day. I did a first look myself and so glad I did!
I love how you share your heart for “the first look” This was not something people did when we got married but boy do I wish it was. This is such a special time on a day that goes by so quickly.
I love when wedding photographers are involved enough and caring enough to help inform their couples about their day! Most couples have never been married and it’s a lot to learn! How are they supposed to know what their options are if they don’t have a wedding consultant? I would recommend you to Wyoming brides just for this reason alone! Great job!
Oh how I wish that First Look photos were a thing when I got married 10 years ago. I remember being so stressed out before the wedding and I really wanted to hug my then fiance to calm down. I would have loved to have been able to spend a couple of moments with just him and I before the wedding . This is such a great post for first time brides in Wyoming!
